Kiwi Conservation Club

Encourages children to enjoy, respect and understand the natural world. Families go on trips together to explore the forest, seashore, mountains, rivers and estuaries. National organization which has local branches.

Brook Waimarama Sanctuary

Vision for a wildlife sanctuary where native animals and plants live without introduced pests. Groups can study native forest ecology close to Nelson city. Situated at the head of the Brook Valley through Brook Valley Holiday Park.

Waimaori Streamcare Programme

Working with schools and the community to monitor the health of streams and rivers. Kaitiakitanga means guardianship - people take action to protect and restore the health of freshwater. Joint project between local Iwi, Department of Conservation, Nelson City Council, Tasman District Council, Nelson Environment Centre, National Waterways Project and the Whitebait Connection.
